🐏 How Many Ferrari 250 Gto Are Left
What we find amazing is that a 250 GTO allegedly recently traded for over three times that, at 70m dollars. Sure, the GTO has become something of an enigma, spoken about in hushed whispers and shrouded in mystery. And yes, it was dominant in the period and clinched Ferrari the GT titles in 1962, ’ 63, and ’ 64.
Many PF's have been transformed to a GTO replica (at least 2), 250TR, LWB California, or modified by Nembo or Drogo (not bad!). Some have been broken up for parts. It was really Ferrari's first 'mass-produced' car and never got rid of its (unrightly) cheap image. If the red body is 1975 GT it was built in 1960.
It came up for sale at the RM/Sotheby's auction at the factory in May, 2007 (lot 224). Here's an excerpt from the ad: " It is one of the four [sic] developmental cars built by Ferrari before production of the 288 GTO began. Two of these four were used for crash tests and subsequently destroyed.
